At Network X 2026 in Vienna (Oct. 13–15), SDMC highlighted how intelligent networks can form the foundation of AI Home and enable operators to extend services beyond connectivity. The showcase demonstrated how home networking devices can evolve to support local AI processing, while AI-assisted operations and open software capabilities help enable new AI services.
AI-Ready Home Networking
The networking portfolio featured Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 8 solutions, and XGS-PON, GPON, and Cable access products. Equipped with a built-in NPU, the AI Fiber Gateway demonstrated how local AI processing can extend traditional networking capabilities, supporting new services without relying on the cloud for every task.
AI Operation & Edge AI Applications
Beyond network upgrades, another practical focus was reducing manual troubleshooting and improving support efficiency through AI. AI Operation demonstrated how device status, network logs, and fault information can support AI-assisted diagnosis, remote troubleshooting, and service management, helping operators streamline support workflows.
Edge AI applications highlighted the potential of local intelligence. AI QoS classifies traffic and adjusts service priorities; Wi-Fi Sensing enables contactless presence detection through wireless signals; AI Vision brings local object recognition and event analysis to existing cameras; and Edge Assistant provides guided troubleshooting for home users. Together, these applications help improve service quality and create opportunities for differentiated home services.
Scalable Service Deployment
The prpl ecosystem provides an open software foundation for application deployment on compatible networking devices, with lifecycle management capabilities subject to software versions and project requirements. Platform adaptation, software integration, and customization help operators introduce and manage AI services across supported hardware environments while simplifying ongoing management.
Cedar-Powered AI Home Experiences
Cedar AI Agent was showcased through an interactive avatar running on AI Station, a shared in-home AI compute platform, demonstrating voice interaction and visual awareness. Devices such as AI Fiber Gateway, AI Streaming Box, and AI Home Display can serve as AI Home hubs, connecting AI capabilities with household devices.
On-site demos featured doorbell-to-display interaction and AI-based understanding of past home events, illustrating how device coordination and household context can enable more relevant assistance. Further exploration of proactive sensing and an expandable AI skill ecosystem points toward more personalized, proactive AI Home services.
Together, these capabilities outline a path for operators to improve network experiences, streamline operations, and extend compatible home CPE beyond connectivity.
Looking ahead, SDMC will continue exploring practical deployment paths across supported devices and markets with operators and ecosystem partners.
