At a media forum in Leipzig from 04 to 06 May, member of Bitkom management Joachim Buehler sketched an outline of a digital revolution, saying the main challenge is the fast reduction of innovation cycles. Participants in the discussion agreed that the nationwide expansion of digital infrastructure is the essential step towards a digital future. According to Rombach, the technical realities have to be considered, as the prerequisite for the expansion is the vacation of the 700 MHz frequency band, which is currently occupied by DVB-T. A change to DVB-T2 is not realistic before 2019, he continued.
